Robin Ørnsrud er forskningssjef for seksjon for Trygt Fôr ved NIFES. Seksjonen har i dag 9 ansatte og hovedmålet er å generere og formidle kunnskap til myndigheter, næring og forbrukere gjennom forskning på fremmedstoffer og interaksjoner med næringsstoffer i fisk. Denne kunnskapen skal sikre et riktig grunnlag for risiko-nyttevurderinger og riktig utforming av lovverk relatert til fiskeernæring.

Forskningsaktiviteten ved seksjon for Trygt fôr fokuserer på å sikre oppdatert kunnskap om fremmedstoffer i fôr som kan påvirke fiskehelse, mattrygghet og miljø. Forståelsen av hvordan og hvor mye av fremmedstoffene som overføres fra fôr til filet er et viktig forskningsområde for oss. Min vitenskapelige produksjon er hovedsakelig innen fiskeernæring med spesielt fokus på fettløselige vitaminer, mineraler, tilsetningsstoffer, uønskede stoffer og fiskevelferd. Jeg har metodeansvar for flere kjemiske analysemetoder og er også kontaktperson for EUs referanselaboratorium på fôrtilsetningsstoffer der NIFES har Nasjonalt referanselaboratoriumsansvar.


Jeg har vært deltidsansatt (20%) ved Universitetet i Bergen, Medisinsk-odontologisk Fakultet siden 2011 og har undervist årlig i en rekke emner siden 2004. Jeg har undervist og vært sensor i ulike emner innen hoved- og mikronæringsstoffer, næringsmiddeltoksikologi, fiskeernæring, statistikk og matvarekunnskap. I tillegg har jeg veiledet studenter på Master og PhD nivå.


Jeg har vært medlem av Vitenskapskomiteen for mattrygghet (VKM) siden 2010 og bidratt til flere risikovurderinger. Jeg er også medlem av Programutvalg for ernæring ved Universitetet i Bergen og jeg representerer NIFES i Rådgivende gruppe ved akutt forurensning til sjø i regi av Kystverket.
