Hovedsaklig arbeider jeg med  bestandsvurdering, bestandsrådgiving og bestandsinteraksjoner for fiskebestander i  Barentshavet, med spesiell vekt på torsk og lodde.

Curriculum Vitae

Utdannelse:
Cand. Scient fra Universitetet i Bergen 1986. Hovedfag i anvendt matematikk (hydrodynamikk), med matematikk, informatikk og fysikk i fagkretsen.
Dr. scient fra Universitetet i Bergen 1997.

Praksis: Fra 1988 ansatt ved Havforskningsinstituttet, nå fast ansatt som forsker 1183. Fram til 1997 var jeg i hovedsak tilknyttet arbeidet med utvikling av en flerbestandsmodell for Barentshavet (MULTSPEC). Jeg har arbeidet med modellering, programmering og tilrettelegging av data for denne og andre bestandsmodeller, blant annet Fleksibest/Gadget. Jeg har også gjennom mange år deltatt i bestandsvurderingen av de viktigste artene i Barentshavet/Norskehavet (torsk, hyse, sei, uer, blåkveite, sild, lodde) gjennom deltagelse i ICES arbeidsgrupper. En viktig del av arbeidet her har vært å bruke resultatene fra flerbestandsforskningen i bestandsvurdering av torsk, hyse, sild og lodde. Fra 2010 til 2015 var jeg formann i ICES Arctic Fisheries Working Group (AFWG), som gjør bestandsberegninger for bunnfisk og lodde i Barentshavet, og deltar i de årlige fiskeriforhandlingene med Russland.  Jeg har også vært sentral i samarbeidet med PINRO i Murmansk gjennom mange år, og har blant annet hatt ansvaret for den felles norsk-russiske magedatabasen. Videre har jeg publisert en god del artikler om økologien på de høyere trofiske nivå i Barentshavet.
