Dr. Jan Even Øie Nilsen, født 1969, er utdannet oseanograf, og er i dag ansatt som senioringeniør med ansvar for dataflyt av oseanografiske data ved HI. Nilsens tidligere forskning har omhandlet klimatiske prosesser i de nordiske og arktiske hav, samt regionale havnivåendringer og påvirkninger. Nilsen var medforfatter av den offisielle havnivårapporten for Norge i 2015, og påfølgende klimarapporter for Fastlandsnorge og Svalbard. Nilsen har siden oppstarten vært en del av Bjerknessenteret for klimaforskning i Bergen.

Nilsen fikk sin Dr.Scient. grad i fysisk oseanografi, om hydrografi og dynamikk i Atlanterhavsvannstrømmen gjennom Norskehavet, ved Geofysisk Institutt (GFI), Universitetet i Bergen (UiB), i 2003.

Spesialiteter: Klimatiske prosesser i havet; havnivåendring; in situ havobservasjoner og databaser, programmering.

Arbeidsområde

Dr. Jan Even Øie Nilsen er i dag ansatt som sjefingeniør med ansvar for dataflyt av fysisk oseanografiske data i HI's forskningsgruppe Oseanografi og klima med følgende hovedoppgaver og prosjekter:

  • Design og prosjektstyring av utviklingen av IMRs nye datahåndteringssystem for fysiske og kjemiske observasjonsdata fra havet (NMDphyschem).
  • Etablering av nye datastrømmer av alle oseanografiske data fra avdelingen, inn i NMDphyschem.
  • Utvikle og utføre kvalitetskontrollprosedyrer for fysiske Argo data og BGC-data i Copernicus.
  • Nedlasting og produksjon av materiale for nettpresentasjoner (f.eks. satellittbilder).
