Climate Changes

Climate changes may cascade through the food chain and result in new balances between predators and prey. We need to analyze observational data to reveal causal links. However, if we also understand the processes involved we are better equipped to predict changes.

Changes in ocean currents and temperature affect biology on every level of the food chain.Revealing these impacts of climate change on marine organisms requires understanding of several conditions:

  • The physical environment and its variability at different time and space scales
  • How the organisms respond to different environmental conditions
  • How they interact with each other in the food chain

Depending on human will and abillity to regulate future emission, there are several  CO2 scenarios.A…

On Climate

Climate is commonly defined as the weather averaged over a period of time. The periode of time is ranging from months to years or even longer time scales. Climate encompasses the statistics of temperature, humidity and wind. Ocean climate consists of average environmental components occuring over a long periode of time. Temperature, salinity and current.
