Since 2004 Tore Nepstad has been the Managing director (CEO) of the Institute of Marine Research.
Nepstad is born in Bergen in 1951 and is educated at the University of Bergen and the Royal Norwegian Naval Academy.
He has background as CEO and COO at Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, vice president at NUTEC, and various leader posistions in the Royal Norwegian Navy. He has participated in several development projects within ILO and WHO.
