Financial Support for Students

There is a limited amount of funding to support student participation in the workshop.

Awards will be based on the following criteria:

  • Level of graduate studies. Priority will be given to Ph.D. students.
  • Degree of experience with the ocean acidification (OA) subject area. Priority will be given to students with limited experience of OA research who are planning to include this topic in their graduate research.
  • Financial need.
  • The student’s research topic (Fellowships will be distributed to students with different backgrounds according to the workshop themes).
  • Students with a background in socioeconomics (e.g. ecosystem services), and with an interest in OA, are encouraged to apply.

Applications must include the following.

  • Curriculum Vitae (4 pages maximum).
  • Letter from the academic supervisor stating that the student is actively engaged in a graduate studies program on a topic that would benefit from their participation in this workshop.
  • Statement of financial need from the student and/or supervisor.
  • Letter of interest (one page) that states the student’s reasons for wanting to learn about OA. This letter should include, for example, a brief description of their graduate research topic specifying its relevance to the workshop themes and a statement describing how participating in this workshop would contribute to their meeting the objectives of their graduate studies program.

NB! The deadline for applications is 17 June 2011.

The Award Committee will make a decision no later than one month after the application deadline. Enquiries and applications should be sent (electronically) to Clara Manno (clara.manno@uit.no)
