On the 100 year anniversary of Johan Hjort's book "Fluctuations in the Great Fisheries of Northern Europe" Bergen will be the host of the Johan Hjort Symposium on Recruitment Dynamics and Stock Variability.
The European Marine Biology Symposium has been an annual event on the calendar of marine biologists since 1966. The EMBS has been hosted in 20 different European countries, this year it is held at the National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland
The overarching theme of EMBS 48 is Biodiversity in a Changing Ocean. Research is proceeding actively on many fronts as we attempt to sustainably manage human activities in the ocean against a backdrop of climate change and ocean acidification.
We invite marine biologists of all codes to join us for stimulating symposium to be held in a collaborative atmosphere in the vibrant and welcoming city of Galway on Europe’s western margin.
Arctic Frontiers holds its 8th annual conference in Tromsø, Norway, from 19-24 January 2014, with the title: Humans in the Arctic. The Arctic Frontiers conference is a central arena for discussions of Arctic issues. The conference brings together representatives from science, politics, and civil society to share perspectives on how upcoming challenges in the Arctic may be addressed to ensure sustainable development.
