AREA OF EXPERTISE AND INTEREST
I am a senior scientist at Institute of Marine Research and participant of the research group “Trophic levels and distribution”. I am trained as an ecologist (both terrestrial and aquatic ecology) and my special interest is ecological interactions from individuals to populations, as well as behavioural ecology. My expertise is in decapod crustaceans and how they interact inter- and intraspecifically with prey, predators and competitors. Most of my research has been in this field in connection with lobster management, in the form of the development of stock enhancement and sea ranching of lobster and monitoring of the edible crab fisheries of Norway.
 

Lately I have been full time occupied with preparing, reporting and developing reports and advices for the ecosystem approach of marine resource management. I have been a delegate to the ICES WG - The Ecosystem Effects of Fishing Activities WGECO) since 2009. I have also taken part in the ICES WS Sea Ranching in 1994, as well as a concerted action project funded by the European Community (FAIR CT-96-1775).
Convener of the 9th International Conference and Workshop on Lobster Biology and Management.

• Participating in preparation of the Norwegian integrated management plan for the Norwegian area of the North Sea (2009-2012).
• Member of the Sirveillance group for the Barents sea and the Norwegian Sea.
