Rekrutteringsdynamikk i viktige fiskebestander og hvordan klimaet påvirker denne dynamikken.
Det fysiske miljøet i havet varierer fra år til år, sesong til sesong og område til område, i tillegg kan byttedyr og predatorer være klumpvis fordelt. Fisk innen samme bestand og årsklasse kan derfor oppleve store forskjeller i fysisk miljø, tilgang på mat og predasjonstrykk. Dette vil påvirke både overlevelse og vekst hos fisk som igjen vil påvirke hvor høyt vi kan beskatte bestandene. Det romlige aspektet er en viktig, men ofte oversett del av fiskeri- og ressurs-forskning.
