Curriculum Vitae

Long standing expertise in combining animal studies with in vitro molecular biological studies to investigate how different nutritional and toxicological components in seafood interact, and the consequences of such interaction. During the recent years, a special interest in the association between the gut microbiome and metabolic health. Co-headed an extensive project to prepare a catalogue of the mouse gut metagenome (published in Nature Biotechnology) and afterwards involved in preparations of catalogues of the metagenome in pig, chicken, ruminant, macaques, salmon and whale. Further, the group is part of annual monitoring measures to map the content of illegal and undesirable substances in wild fish, farmed fish and seafood products.
