Field of research
I have a Dr. scient. degree in physical oceanography from the University of Bergen, Norway. My PhD work focused on effects of turbulence on the ecosystem and mixing processes in fjords and coastal waters, with special emphasise on turbulence measurements and analysis. Later the field of interest expanded to involve couplings between climate and fish, and on climate effects on the ecosystem in general. I have been project leader of projects funded by both the Norwegian Research Council (e.g. FishExChange) and the Nordic Council of Ministers (e.g. NorExChange), as well as internal IMR projects (e.g. ØKOKLIM). Presently, I am leading a Nordic Network on Effects of Climate Change on Fish, Fishery Industry and Management, funded by NORFORSK. I am also one of four editors of the Environmental status report for Barents Sea ecosystem, which have contributions from ca 130 Norwegian and Russian scientist.
