Arbeidsområde

My research focuses on the Brain-Pituitary-Gonad (BPG) axis (gonadotropin-releasing hormones, gonadotropins, gonadal steroids and the receptors for these hormones) in teleosts. More precisely, I am studying the roles of selected components of the BPG-axis in determining sexual maturation and puberty in fish, with special reference to environmental and neuroendocrine control mechanisms.
Studies on environmental and neuroendocrine control mechanisms in determining sexual maturation and puberty in Atlantic salmon and Atlantic cod has become my main research focus.  Furthermore, I am involved in working with early sex-differentiation of cod. Although my work in the last years has focused on salmon and cod, I have also worked with many other fish species including halibut, turbot, African catfish and three-spined stickleback.
