Background

The ICES organizes symposia on topics spanning the broad range of marine science. These meetings, which attract hundreds of participants, are held in Observer or Member Countries.

The main conclusions and scientific contributions to ICES Symposia are described in reports presented at the ICES Annual Science Conference and are published in various series, including ICES Cooperative Research Report(s) and ICES Marine Science Symposia (MSS).

Since 1995 they have chiefly been published as special volumes in the series ICES Journal of Marine Science, although for purposes of tracking they retain a place in the consecutive numbering system of the MSS series.
