I am a researcher at the Sustainable Development research group of the Institute of Marine Research, Norway. Currently, I am serving as the research coordinator of the EAF-Nansen Programme (FAO/IMR/NORAD). I am educated as a fisheries biologist, with research mainly focusing on small pelagic fish ecology and biology.

Besides my PhD on trophic ecology of small pelagic fish, I hold a MSc in Ecology, Management and Protection of the natural Environment. My research interests include:

  • Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management
  • Sustainable Development
  • Trophodynamics and ecology of small pelagic fish
  • Species distribution modelling
  • Fisheries oceanography

I have been involved in several research projects funded by both national and international bodies (EU, NFR, NORAD, GSRT) and also lead the Theme 2 'Pelagic stocks distribution, abundance, trends and dynamics, stock identity and ecology' of the science plan of the EAF-Nansen Programme. I am also involved in Theme 1 (Early Life Stages of Fish) and Theme 3 (Mesopelagic Fish). Finally, I am serving as a cruise leader onboard the RV Dr. Fridtjof Nansen on surveys within the framework of the EAF-Nansen Programme. An overview of my scientific publications can be found here

Regarding hard skills, I have knowledge in the following aspects:

  • R programming
  • Data analysis and visualization
  • Statistical analysis
  • Mapping
  • Working knowledge in acoustics
